Long, long ago way back in 1929 legend has it that old man Bob Dowers son Billy Bob Dowers came upon a freak show at a carnival in Georgetown. Billy Bob was so mesmerized by the freaks especially the bearded lady Edith . Edith was also quite taken with Billy Bob too. .Even with all the hair on her chin all he could see was the beauty in her eyes when she smiled at him.
Being the son of old man Dowers, Billy Bob had never had a women bearded or not smile at him . In Georgetown the Dowers clan was hated . They were considered ruthless and no one would dare smile at any of them.
Billie Bob liked the freaks in the freak show so much so he decided that he wanted to buy the freak show and take it on the road himself.
One of the first stops that Billy Bob wanted to do was a place he had long heard of but had never been Coney Island. Once the freak show arrived in Coney Island and the townsfolk started talking everyone just had to have a sneak peak. Adults and children alike would try peering through the smallest hole in the tattered and torn rag of a tent that the freaks called home. Laughing and staring at the freaks one by one the peering peepsters disappeared. The towns folks started whispering to each other every time one of the freaks would appear in town .Making the freaks as well as Dowers very uncomfortable.
By the time the show opened on Saturday night the towns folk had gathered outside the tent not in anticipation of seeing the freaks but with anger They were demanding answers they wanted to know what had happened to the towns people that were missing. Not sensing the anger when Dowers opened the tent the towns people rushed in and was grabbing the freaks one by one threatening to hang them all including Dowers if they didnt get some answers. Luckily the town constable had gotten word of the lynching and rushed in and stopped the town from lynching the freaks. The constable warned Billy Bob to pack up his freaks and go .
Dowers did just that. He packed up the freaks and decided to go on to the next town. State after state town after town when the freak show arrived, the disappearances of the towns folk would start again.
Finally they had ran out of places to go and places to hide. Billy Bob decided since winter was upon them he would take the freak show back to Georgetown for the winter and hopefully the rumors and innuendos would stop. The freak show arrived back in Georgetown on a cold winters day . The towns people where not happy that Dowers had brought the freaks back to town since they had heard the rumors surrounding their other stops .The town constable warned old man Dowers and his son Billie Bob that any problems and he would let the towns people take care of the freaks in what ever means necessary.
Old man Dowers made Billie Bob lock the freaks in the old barn by the abandoned coal pits. Billie Bob did as he was instructed but would sneak out to the barn daily to spend time with his now wife Edith. Billie Bob had not told old man Dowers he had wed the bearded women Edith and that she was with child. He knew his father being the ruthless man he was would never stand for this..but Edith was with child and Billie Bob was excited.
Billie Bob had asked some of the other freaks Chameleon man Brock and Meat Man Matthew to help watch over her when he was unable to be there. Brock was known as the Chameleon man because he could blend into the walls and Matthew was known as meat man because his face was disfigured so much it looked like raw meat.
They where true to their word to Billie Bob as soon as Edith went into labor they started to scream and yell to try and get Billie Bobs attention however instead of getting the attention of Billie Bob who had went into town for supplies old man Dowers heard the up roar and went to see what the commotion was all about. as soon as he opened the door and the Chameleon man Brock and Meat Man Matthew had told old man Dowers that his twin grandchildren RC and Billie Jo had been born .Old man Dowers went over to look at the children as he gazed at them with a scowl on his face he realized his grandchildren were born freaks too. RC a boy had a little bolts of electric coming from his finger tips and his twin sister Billie Joe had a face like a little china doll with small cracks in the porcelain finish.
Old man Dowers seeing all the freaks staring at him and realizing that his son had fathered these children with one of the freaks became enraged and stormed out of the barn saying something about how this was an out rage .On the way out of the barn Old man Dowers locked the barn doors back . A few minutes later the freaks could hear rustling outside the barn and soon the smell of gasoline filled the barn. The freaks looking out a small crack could see old man Dowers spreading gasoline around hay bales outside the barn. The freaks were screaming and begging for Dowers to stop and soon they heard the distant screams of Billie Bob begging his father to stop
as old man Dowers struck the match and threw it on the gasoline soaked hay bales and walked awayBillie Bob hearing the screams of the freaks and his new born babies, ran quickly to the barn and tried desperately to unlock the door or make an exit for them to escape
To no avail the screams and cries of the freaks and babies continued as the barn burnt. Billie Bob being distraught over the loss of his wife , babies and friends decided that he wanted to be with them in death although he couldnt in life .He in an act of desperation in front of his father ran into the burning barn just as the roof fell.. It is said some time upon a full moon or on a clear night that you can still see the freaks in the barn..
and sometimes if you listen close you can hear them pleading for their lives and begging someone to save the babies..
